New issue on sale Monday

It might be chilly on the water but the fishing action doesn’t stop with New Zealand Fishing World – right now it’s all about learning to adapt and keepin’ on keepin’ on. With a Kiwi winter fishing checklist we’re jigging for hapuka, heading to the Winterless North and working on our advanced livebaiting tactics. We keep busy sprucing up our fishing gear – that is if we haven’t escaped to Fiji or Tonga to sample the fishing in warmer parts of the Pacific. Two of our writers have headed to warmer shores for this issue and it sounds like the fishing was hot.
But there’s still plenty to do back home if you’re unable to get away. Geoff Thomas has created a guide to odd fish, diving headfirst into the freaky and strange of the pelagic underworld. As well as this, you can brush up on your fishing lingo – we’ve compiled a dictionary of angler-speak to transform the newbie angler into a true blue Kiwi fisherman. In this issue we examine the humble hook, keep warm through the winter kayak season and catch up with the new Minister for Primary Industries – you’ll be pleased to hear he’s an angler himself.
All this and more in the July/August issue of New Zealand Fishing World, on sale Monday 2 July!
