Kingfish, Hammerhead Sharks and Monster Snapper from the Kayaks
We set out the first week of March to specifically target New Zealand Kingfish before the end of summer, we started very early and got to our location at first light, just before sunrise, set up the kayaks and launched.
The plan was to catch some live bait and later head out to deeper water and try to hook a Kingfish. This ended up being much harder than we had imagined, we were after species like yellowtails and Kahawai but they were nowhere to be found, all we were attracting with our Sabiki's were tiny undersized snapper.
Some of us got lucky and managed to catch a few livies, I managed only two and with time and the tide running out we decided to head out to deeper water and try luck.
