How to Cross a Bar in NZ

There is so much amazing fishing off the west coast of NZ, but almost all harbours require crossing a notorious bar. There's a few bars that are dangerous on the east coast as well, so here's a great video put together by the Coastguard on how to cross them safely. Watch and learn

The boys leave the harbour and head down the coast to shelter from the forecasted wind. Later that day the wind drops out and the nearest island seems like it’s worth a visit. After a few stuff ups Milan lands a couple big beautiful king fish.

After a couple years of no fishing, Nato wants to have a crack at catching a king fish on his fly rod. The boys find a pack of ray-riding kingfish and A fly is smashed in what the boys reckon is one of the greatest strikes they have ever seen. Nato manages to catch 2 more solid harbour king fish on live baits that were trailing behind the boat while fly fishing.
