Kawhia / Raglan
fishing report
July 29, 2022
A quick report from out west, where it really has not been giving anyone much opportunity to fish over the past few weeks When the gates finally open the fishing is still very good for this time of the year.
We are still getting limits of snapper most days or very close too.
The snaps have been pretty mixed in size 15lb right down to tiddlers even out in the deep water we have been targeting most around 60 metres.
There’s plenty of bycatch, gurnard, tarakahi and the usual winter critters spiney dogs (not too many though thankfully).
The old South Island sailfish (ie: barrcouta) and kahawai are in big numbers at times, which is pretty typical for winter.
We are all pretty over the winter weather, but it will make spring all the sweeter.
Be careful out there.
Cheers
Rob
