Northland kayak kingfish jigging

An awesome weekend kayak fishing from Taemaro Bay, just south of Doubtless Bay on the North Island of New Zealand.

"Big swells from Cyclone Victor lead to an interesting surf launch and landing on the first day and lots of chop as we returned to the headland. We fished off Burgens Point and a reef in Doubtless Bay, with the kingfish falling to jigs. Unfortunately 3 were lost to a bronze whaler shark.

Day 2 was an easier launch from Hihi for a softbaiting session for snapper. The fishing was hot with plenty of snapper around and I landed my first trevally which went 64cm.

Big thank you to Kerry of Team Pinnacle NZ for showing me some great spots, and thanks for watching :)"
